Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2, 2026
The short version
- Your migraine tracker is private to you. We never sell it, and no other member or moderator can see it.
- We never sell your personal information to anyone.
- Location is optional. We only collect it if you turn on weather tracking, and we only use it to show you weather, never for advertising.
- You can export or delete all of your data at any time, from your account.
- You can post in the community under a name you choose, or anonymously.
- This is a place for support, not medical care. Nothing here is a diagnosis.
This policy explains what information The Migraine Network LLC ("we," "us," or "The Migraine Network") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers our website, the members’ community, the migraine tracker, and our shop. By using The Migraine Network you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
The Migraine Network is operated from the United States and intended for people in the United States. We apply a high standard of privacy protection to everyone. The sections near the end of this policy describe additional rights that may apply to you depending on where you live in the US, for example in California, Washington, and other states.
Who can use The Migraine Network
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. During sign-up we ask for your birth year and you confirm that you are 16 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has given us their information, email us and we will delete it.
What we collect
- Account and profile. Your name and email address (used to sign in), and anything you choose to add to your profile, such as a display name, pronouns, a short bio, and a photo.
- Your migraine tracker (health information). If you use the tracker, we store the attacks you log, including pain level, dates and times, symptoms, pain locations, medications you take and whether they helped, how long attacks last, and any private notes you write. If you turn on period tracking, we also store the cycle dates you log and the patterns we show between your cycle and your attacks; this is reproductive health information. All of this is sensitive health information and we treat it with the highest level of care (see “Your health information” below).
- Location (optional). If you choose to turn on weather tracking, we collect your location so we can show you weather that may relate to your migraine attacks. Location is off until you enable it, and you can turn it off at any time. To show you weather, we send your location to our weather data provider (Open-Meteo) solely to retrieve the local forecast; it is not used for advertising or shared with anyone else. Because it relates to your migraine, we treat your location as health information.
- Community activity. The posts, replies, reactions, and saved items you create in the community. You can choose to post anonymously; when you do, your name is hidden from other members.
- Reports and feedback. If you report a post to our moderators, or send us feedback or a bug report, we store what you send us (a bug report may include the page you were on) so we can review it. Reports are private.
- Orders. If you buy from our shop, our payment and fulfillment partners process your order and shipping details, and an address-validation service helps confirm your shipping address. We receive a record of the order.
- Email preferences. Whether you have asked to receive newsletters or reply notifications, so we can honor your choices.
- Technical and usage information. Basic analytics about how the site is used, and standard security and server logs.
How we use your information
We use your information only to: run the community and the tracker for you; show weather relevant to your migraine attacks if you enable that feature; keep your account and the community safe (including recognizing when a member may be in crisis so we can offer support resources); send the emails you have asked for; process and ship orders; understand in aggregate how the service is used so we can improve it; and meet our legal obligations. Because your tracker is sensitive health information, we only collect and process it with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
What we never do
We never sell your personal information, and we never sell or share your tracker (health) information or your individual location with anyone for advertising. We do not use your health information for advertising or to target you.
We may share aggregated, anonymized statistics, for example the percentage of our members in a particular region or age range, with sponsors who support the service. This information is always combined across many members, uses only coarse location (such as a region, never precise coordinates), is drawn from general site usage and analytics rather than the contents of your tracker, and is never small enough to identify any individual. It cannot be traced back to you, your tracker, or your account. We do not attempt to re-identify anonymized data, and we require anyone who receives it not to re-identify it.
If we ever offer an optional feature that uses any of your individual information for interest-based content, it will be strictly opt-in, clearly explained, and off unless you turn it on. We will never quietly change that.
Advertising and affiliate links
The Migraine Network is free, and advertising helps keep it that way. We show ads only in the community, on the website, and in our newsletter, never inside the tracker, logging, or your health data.
- Sponsorships: sponsors who support the community receive only the anonymous, aggregated statistics described above, never your personal information, tracker, or location.
- Affiliate links: some product suggestions in the community and in our articles are Amazon affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. When you click an affiliate link you leave our app and go to Amazon (or another retailer), whose own privacy policy and tracking then apply. We do not share your information with these retailers; the link only identifies us as the referrer.
We never use your health information or individual location to choose or target ads.
Who we share information with
We use a small set of trusted companies to operate the service. They may only process your information to provide their service to us, never for their own purposes:
- Clerk: secure sign-in and account management.
- Supabase: the database that stores your account, community, and tracker data.
- Vercel: website hosting.
- Open-Meteo: weather data for the optional weather feature in the tracker (receives your location only when you enable weather).
- Stripe: payment processing for the shop.
- Printful: printing and shipping shop orders.
- Geoapify and Google: address autocomplete and validation at checkout, to confirm shipping addresses.
- Resend: sending the emails you have asked for.
- Google Analytics: website usage statistics. We configure it to limit the data collected, we do not enable Google’s advertising features, and we do not run it on the tracker.
Sponsors who support the service receive only the aggregated, anonymized statistics described above. They never receive your personal information, tracker data, or location.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our members. To help keep the community safe, our system automatically checks posts for signs of crisis or self-harm, and if something is detected a moderator may be alerted so we can share support resources.
Your health information
The tracker is built to be private to you. Your logged attacks, including any period tracking you turn on, are stored so that only your own signed-in account can read them; other members and moderators cannot see them. The tracker is a personal record to help you understand patterns and have better conversations with your doctor. It is not a medical record, medical advice, or a diagnosis, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. Any “doctor summary” you create stays on your device unless you choose to print, save, or share it.
We are not a doctor, hospital, insurer, or other entity covered by HIPAA, so HIPAA does not govern this app. State consumer health data laws (described below) exist to protect health information that HIPAA does not cover, and we follow them. See our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy for details.
Community and public content
The Migraine Network includes a members’ community. Anything you choose to post in public areas of the community, including posts, replies, reactions, your chosen display name, and any details you include in them, can be seen by other members and is not private in the way your tracker is. If you post anonymously, your name is hidden from other members, but the content itself remains visible within the community. To help keep the community safe, our system automatically checks posts and replies for signs of crisis or self-harm and may alert a moderator so we can share support resources.
Please be thoughtful about sharing health details or other personal information in public areas. Information you choose to make public is not covered by the privacy protections that apply to your private account data and tracker, and we are not responsible for how other members may use information you have chosen to share publicly. If you would like something you posted removed, you can always delete it.
Your choices and rights
You are always in control of your information. From your account you can:
- See and update your profile at any time.
- Turn weather tracking (location) and period tracking on or off at any time, and withdraw your consent for them.
- Export a copy of your data.
- Delete your data and your account, including your health information. Some records we are legally required to keep, such as order and tax records, are retained as described in “How long we keep your information.”
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to correct your information, object to or restrict certain uses, and withdraw consent. To exercise any right, use the tools in your account or email us at support@themigrainenetwork.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
California residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) may give you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to access and delete your information, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising, and we do not use your sensitive personal information (including your health information and location) for any purpose other than providing the service to you. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. To exercise any of these rights, use the tools in your account or email support@themigrainenetwork.com.
Other US state privacy rights
Several other US states (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and others) have comprehensive privacy laws. If you are a resident of one of these states, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and certain profiling. Because we do not sell your data or use it for targeted advertising, and because we treat your health information as sensitive data requiring your consent, our practices are designed to honor these rights for all US users. To exercise a right, use the tools in your account or email support@themigrainenetwork.com.
Washington residents: your consumer health data rights
Washington’s My Health My Data Act gives Washington residents specific rights over consumer health data, which for us includes your migraine tracker entries (including any period tracking) and any location collected through weather tracking. You have the right to know what consumer health data we collect and how we use it, to withdraw your consent to its collection and sharing, and to have it deleted. We do not sell consumer health data, and we will not collect or share it for any purpose beyond those described in this policy without your separate, clear consent. To exercise these rights, use the tools in your account or email support@themigrainenetwork.com. A dedicated Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy describing these practices in detail is available on our website.
How long we keep your information
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your data or your account, we remove it from our live systems right away and from our backups within 30 days. If an account is inactive for 3 years, we will email you a warning and then delete it. Order and payment records are kept for about 7 years to meet tax and accounting laws. Security and email logs are kept only briefly and then deleted.
Where your information is stored
The Migraine Network is operated from the United States, and your information is stored on servers in the United States. If you access the service from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, which may have different data protection laws than your home country. We apply the protections in this policy to your information regardless of where it is processed.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and the service secure. We use analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used; we do not enable Google’s advertising features and do not run analytics on the tracker.
How we protect your information
Your information is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is tightly restricted, and the tracker is protected by database-level rules that limit every record to its owner. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the protection of your health information seriously and design for it.
Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know in the app or by email. Your continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
